The Arts and Theatre Institute announces a call for participation in the PQ+ program taking place as part of the Prague Quadrennial 2019.
About PQ+ 2019
The PQ+ 2019 program organized by the Arts and Theatre Institute will be part of the 14th Prague Quadrennial (PQ), which takes place from 6 to 16 June 2019. The main goal of the PQ+ program is to present foreign professionals and guests of PQ 2019 with contemporary Czech performing arts with attention paid to scenography.
The requested profile of presentations registered in the PQ+ 2019 program
The PQ+ 2019 program accepts various kinds of presentations, such as productions, performances, immersive, interactive and experience events, exhibitions, compositions and other formats of presentation of productions in theatre, dance, music, light design and sound design related to the field or topics of scenography. Presentations implemented in cooperation with artists/subjects residing in and outside Prague as well as productions from theatre seasons from 2011/2012 to 2018/2019 will be given preference during the preparation of the program.
Conditions for enlistment in the PQ+ 2019 program
Applications to the PQ+ 2019 program should be submitted online in this link. The PerformCzech Dramaturgy Board in association with the PQ team decide about the participation of the project in the program. The deadline for applications is 30th November 2018. The decision on the participation in PQ+ 2019 will be issued by 15th January 2019.
Benefits of implementation in the PQ+ 2019 program
The last edition of the international showcase took place in 2015 at more than 60 places in the center of Prague. There were more than 600 live performances and 150 exhibitions in which 78 countries from all around the world presented their works from the field of performance, costume, sound and light design in eleven days. More than 180,000 viewers including 6,000 accredited professionals saw the events and projects of the Prague Quadrennial 2015. More than 1,300 students from all around the world participated in student workshops and performances.
PQ+ 2019 promotion will be systematically aimed at foreign professionals and PQ visitors. There will be joint promotion for PQ+ 2019 in the form of printed material including all events and will be distributed not only in all PQ spaces, but also in organizations and institutions participating in PQ+ 2019 project. All projects will be presented at PQ web site and www.PerformCzech.cz, the promo website of Czech theatre, dance and contemporary circus abroad. Promotional activities will also include presentations in other forms of marketing and PR (a newsletter, press releases, social networks). Accredited participants will get information about PQ+ 2019 program with other materials during the registration.
Conditions for enlistment in the PQ+ 2019 program
– translation into English (subtitles, interpretation, annotations etc.) for presentations that are language barrier-free.
– the presentation must take place in Prague (accessible by public transport) within 6th-16th June 2019.
– artistic and financial means and production must be managed by the applicant.
The ATI will allocate an amount of money from the program of Promotion of Czech Performing Arts Abroad 2019, which will allow to share financial costs for organization of the event, such as –
– tickets for foreign guests and/or
– translation into English and/or
– domestic transport and/or
– rental of space for the presentation.
